The Big Lunch event 2013

The Big Lunch FREE Workshop event, St Mary's Street, Cardiff

On Saturday 4th May we hosted The Big Lunch FREE workshop event on St Mary's Street in Cardiff. We took over 2 empty shops and part of the high street to show people how fun and easy it can be to plan your own Big Lunch and what resources are available in local communities. There were so many activites to have a go at from circus skills and seed bomb making to cooking demos and pedal powered busking and bubbles! Everyone had a fantastic time and hopefully left with new skills and ideas to take back and share in their own communities.

"This was such a fun and lively event! We really liked making seedbombs and meeting the chickens!"

"I really hope we can see more things like this going on in the city, as a part of making Cardiff the capital of a one planet nation.”

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours once a year in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. This year the main event is Sunday 3rd June. If you are interested in holding a Big Lunch in your own community then you can find out more here.
