Stay Home, Grow Your Own
Comments Off on Stay Home, Grow Your OwnWe are so excited that over the past months more and more of you have started to grow your own food at home in small urban gardens and at allotments across the city!
So we have teamed up with Bute Park plant nursery and local organisations, supported by Food For Life Get Togethers to launch our brand new project; Stay Home, Grow Your Own!
Whether you’re brand new to growing or already have green fingers we want to help you grow your own veg and herbs during lockdown and learn some news skills. As well distributing lovely locally grown seedlings for free across Cardiff we’ll be sharing some simple growing guidance and even hosting a virtual grow-along or two for us all to connect and share skills.

Green Squirrel will be distributing plants in Splott and Adamsdown so if you live in those areas then you will be able to collect plants for free on specific dates in May, June and July - the next date is Saturday 11th July and you can collect your plants from the front garden of 222 Railway Street at 10am. Join the facebook event here for more information about collecting your plants. If you cannot leave the house or collect then we are arranging a limited amount of local deliveries with the help of volunteers from our local mutual aid group. Sign up here to request a delivery.
If you have collected some plants or would like to get involved in the project you can sign up here to find out about our virtual grow-alongs, receive free growing resources and connect to the growing community across Cardiff.
We are very happy to be working with local organisations through the Edible Cardiff network to distribute plants across different areas of Cardiff so please get in touch with the group in your area if you would like some plants. Please be aware that these groups are taking part on a voluntary basis and may not have the capacity to distribute plants to all those that request them.
