Skill up in 2017 with the Green Squirrel!
It was nearly a year ago that we launched the first Green Squirrel workshops in Cardiff; a series of unique workshops offering traditional and sustainable skills in the city. Since then more than 200 of you have joined us to learn new skills to support sustainable living and meet a great bunch of like-minded people. Our 16 workshops have covered an exciting range of topics from bike maintenance, beekeeping and urban growing to DIY, wild food foraging and upcycling.
Our participants tell us that their new skills will help them take steps to live more sustainably and many of you plan to share your new found skills with friends, family or your community. We are very pleased that as a result of attending a Green Squirrel workshop people are now keeping their own chickens, brewing their own mead, upcycling their clothes and household waste, tackling DIY tasks, going foraging and even starting up their own community growing projects.
Our Green Squirrel participants also highlighted the benefit of meeting and networking with new people to discover more about what is happening in their community and share their ideas for a more sustainable city.
“After attending a Green Squirrel workshop on urban bee keeping I got involved in a project to grow more plants that support bees and other important pollinator insects in our city. Green Squirrel is all about hands-on, practical approaches and results. They are totally inspirational.”
“I love these courses. These are things I’ve wondered about for a long time but had no idea where to start and now I do.”
“Since taking part I have been foraging with my family, have introduced vertical growing into my garden (and my friends) and have reviewed my wardrobe and altered more clothes.”
Coming up in 2017…
We have our best Squirrels on the case putting together an exciting new range of workshops, and maybe some extra treats for 2017! We’ll be launching these in March so keep your tails twitching and sign up to our newsletter if you don’t want to miss anything. So why not make your 2017 a squirrely year and join us to learn new skills and meet like minded people to help build more sustainable communities in Cardiff.
